With our ART& RESEARCH PROGRAM we offer dancers the opportunity to work closely with talented choreographers and dance creators. The program calls for dancers to take a deep dive into the research methods and movement of the choreographer. Under their guidance, we will collectively work towards a short presentation with your group.

You’ll be working in a collaborative setting in a 4-day program. During this period, everyone will have more time to explore the movement methods. This allows for a deeper understanding of their shared knowledge.

This program takes place at ART& STUDIOS, where we stimulate connection and building relationships within the dance community. The program includes a gathering during the final day, where you will have the opportunity to dance in a performance created by the talented choreographers.

DAY PROGRAM

Melisa DiktaÅŸ

"Sound in Moment" is a research method that combines Melisa's body language with "govend," a Kurdish dance style representing the blend of "goden" (sound) and "venden" (movement). In Kurdish culture, 'govend' symbolizes their way of combat, emerging from necessity with varying strengths and hopes. Throughout this research, we will delve into the embodiment of this struggle and its driving forces. In govend, there's no central focal point; every participant holds equal significance in the exchange. Similarly, our focus in this research remains on collective exploration.

Returning to ART& STUDIOS, Melisa's aim is to expand on this method with movers from diverse backgrounds.

“I am looking to build upon my previous research, refining my approach and delving deeper into the essence of “Sound in Movement. During the research, the studio will be a blank canvas on which I will be creating with my group of dancers.”

Using personally crafted methods and tools, she will guide participants in cultivating their authentic selves through her unique movement approach.

Evelien Jansen

The period spent together will serve as a preliminary research phase for my next theatre piece titled ‘Groeipijn’. It explores the experience of reaching one's "all-time low" and how it fosters humility and resilience. Sometimes, pushing yourself to your absolute limit is necessary to find the strength to navigate your own journey.

Evelien is a young creator who, drawing from her experience as a dancer, has developed an organic, dynamic, and rhythmic movement language within contemporary dance. This research will delve deeper into her unique artistic expression.

“I believe dance has the ability to make a strong connection to explore our deepest emotions, which we often neglect or do not pay attention to in our busy modern lives.’’ That is the essence of her work. So the goal is dancing to feel and explore those emotions, to empower and to live the feelings.”

NIGHT PROGRAM

Daniëlle Minnee

As a choreographer, Danielle is driven by a desire to bring order to chaos through movement and genuine connections. "I'm always looking for new ways to move while embracing life's unpredictability. This journey turns life's messiness into a profound language that celebrates human experience."

We'll explore uncovering our true selves beneath the surface.

"For me, choreography is about more than just structured movement; it's about inviting dancers to explore expression and embark on a journey of self-discovery."

Danielle aims to dig deep into the origins of movement, transcending shame and exploring why and how we move, even if it's uncomfortable.

Throughout our research, we'll use various movement qualities to tailor choreography to each performer's strengths, merging movement, music, and composition for a performance.
